Promotion: The Vampire Hunter's Daughter

The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter
Complete Collection
Parts I-VI
Genre: YA Paranormal
June 2012
This special edition of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter contains parts I-VI, the complete collection. Fourteen-year-old Chloe witnesses her mother’s murder at the hands of a vampire. Before the vampire can kidnap her, there is an unexpected rescue by a group of vampire hunters.

Overwhelmed by the feeling of safety, Chloe passes out and they whisk her away to their small community. When Chloe wakes, she comes face to face with the only other living relative, besides her mother, whom she has ever met: her grandfather. Chloe’s mother kept her hidden from the family; now, Chloe tries to unveil the family secrets.

Through her grandfather, she learns her mother was a vampire hunter. In fact, her entire family is descended from the powerful bloodlines of vampire hunters. Chloe agrees to join the family she has never known for one reason only: Chloe vows to kill the vampire responsible for her mother’s murder. With vengeance in her soul, Chloe is even more determined to follow through on her vow when she discovers the true identity of her enemy and how he is connected to her.

Experience the world of vampire hunter’s, vampires and mythology with Chloe in this exciting series.

Excerpt:

I took the first book off the stack and examined the cover. It was titled Vampires throughout History. The cover was leather and so old it was stiff and cracked in spots. The pages showed signs of age too, yellowing and stiff to the touch. There was no table of contents, so it looked like I was going to have to scan the entire book for what I was wanting. I flipped the pages carefully, so as not to tear any of them.

After an hour of scanning and about half way through the book, I found something referring to vampire children.
~~~
Although extremely rare, the natural-born offspring of vampires exist throughout the world. These rare beings are called the dhampir. Dhampir are usually the product of a vampire and mortal. The most common of these unions is a male vampire impregnating a mortal woman. Vampires, both male and female, are seductive in nature and some mortals came willingly to these unions. However, the majority of dhampir born were produced through an act of rape.
Solitary by nature, it is uncommon for a vampire to settle with any one mate for long. The children of vampires, the dhampir, more often than not exhibit all the characteristics of their vampire parent. The strength, speed and agility are the usual hereditary traits that the children develop. They are not always born with these traits but develop them as they grow into adulthood.
The dhampir are day walkers. Some of these children are sensitive to the sunlight but will not perish in the direct rays. Most have no sensitivity at all. Drinking the fresh blood of mortals is also not usually required of the dhampir; however, some have a liking for it. Very few actually need it to survive.
Most dhampir are rejected by the vampire species because of their mortality and weaknesses. Mortals often reject the dhampir, as well, due to their vampirism, so they frequently remain outcast.
Dhampir are known for becoming vampire killers. Their closeness to the vampires and their vampire characteristics make them powerful vampire hunters. The unique ability to track and kill vampires is specific to only the dhampir and the mythological race of vampire hunters.
Historically, dhampir became vampire hunters as a trade. Towns and villages became plagued by vampires who were terrorizing their homes and killing their people. The dhampir accepted contracts in exchange for monetary payment and used their likeness to their vampire counterparts to exterminate the vampires.
~~~
Holy crap, that was a lot to process. The more I read the passages, the more I understood that my being a hunter was more than my heritage; it was my history and my future. Everything about my bloodlines had hunters involved.

Part I of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter is FREE and the author would appreciate it if this was included in the tour spots.  You can find it FREE at the links below.

General News

How can it already be mid-December? The days are simply flying past these days, even though my lack of sleep these days also make parts of the week crawl by. In Real Life, I am up to my neck marking, trying to get the term papers marked by this weekend so I can be shod of this class before the holidays. It's going slowly, but surely. At least the exams are all marked and done, so I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also  finished my holiday shopping, aside from groceries, and am looking forward to getting in some R&R very soon.

In the meantime, I have some news that I felt I should quickly run down...

First, I have a new contract all signed and off in the post. It might have even arrived, depending on whether the snail mail cart was pulled by one mule or two. I have signed my newest full length novel off to Pink Petal Books, a new company to me - but not a new company, itself. In fact, it's fairly established for an ebook company, and I am very pleased. They seem to like the book, my editor seems friendly and enthusiastic, and the company seems to have a good reputation for contemporary romance, which seems to be fading with other companies. Yes, I am very pleased.

The book, currently entitled Textbook Romance, is the story of Liberty, an anti-romance university prof, and a wonderful single father who seeks to change her mind. I confess a lot of it takes place over Christmas, but I have opted to release it for Father's Day, since Seth's dadhood is such a huge, adorable part of his character. It will be out in ebook in June, with luck, and in paperback in September 2012. I am thrilled to have another contract to look forward to - I was getting antsy, since my Rebel Ink series finished off.

Second, I guess it was that ARe newsletter interview, and possibly all the appearances I've been doing, but Unwrapping Scrooge has taken off in a big way! I'm very happy, but a little confused, since the book came out last year. But, hey, I'm certainly not complaining - it's been great, and I'm seeing the sales in general go up. Perhaps someone liked Unwrapping Scrooge so much they decided to try the others? Who knows! Whatever is going on, I'm grateful.

Third, I have hired a PR company, Sizzling PR, to book a month long blog tour for me and my Valentine's Day book V-Day, so that's exciting. It sounds so grown up and professional, doesn't it? It was certainly affordable, so we'll see if it results in a few sales. V-Day is a good little book (in my humble, totally-unbiased opinion), so I hope it gives it the leg up it deserves. I am also running a month-long promo on TRR for Strings Attached all of January, so hopefully we can create a bit of synergy between all the books. I'm learning as I go.

(I am open to guest shots and interviews of all sorts for Jan-Feb, and then again all summer, so contact me if you have spots open!)

I will be around a lot over the next few weeks, still promoting the Christmas books, along with the New Years book. Please come on back this weekend for the blog hop, and keep an eye out for the other blog hops and blogfests and interviews and guest posts and reviews, etc, etc, etc, that I have going on. (See the "Events" tab above.) To be honest, I can't remember everything off the top of my head any more.

Well, back to marking. Thanks for checking in. I'm glad I managed a little news update today. Some fairly invigorating new developments, no?

Take care, and happy holidays to all!

Strings Attached for only $3 at Coffee Time Romance: Sale Ends This Weekend!

How do you relate to a man who doesn’t want you to?
Josie Sergeant has learned one thing by carving out her living from the wilds of the Canadian north: perseverance, optimism and the willingness to do what has to be done can overcome even the harshest of obstacles. Life has taught Theo Sabich, a fellow rancher from Australia, that optimism is a fool’s hope.
When their beloved siblings’ impetuous marriage plans pit Josie and Theo against one another to defend their families, they find more than they bargain for. And when they start seeing each other as more than enemies, they face their greatest challenge – finding the courage to reach out for happiness.
Under the northern lights, their attraction ignites beyond their control… The trouble is a one-time “no strings attached” release of passion is easier said than done when love is hanging by a thread.

Just a little reminder for those of you wishing to save a few bucks on my new full length contemporary romance, Strings Attached, Coffee Time Romance has it as a July sales item, and I believe the sale ends this weekend.

Available in PDF and other formats, it is convertible to Kindle via Caliber.

Strings Attached: 50% Off for a Limited Time

I just did a search to see whether my new contemporary romance novel Strings Attached had gone up on B&N (it has) and Coffee Time Romance (ditto), and discovered, much to my excitement, that the book is Wild Horse Press' Monthly Special at CTR this month!

So, if you want to try Strings Attached at $3 instead of $5.99, HERE'S your chance!

(This is a limited time offer, and I have no control over Coffee Time Romance, and, therefore, no ability to guarantee how long this sale will last, etc. I merely noticed it in my searches. Offer is subject to change without notice, etc.)

PROMO: Kinship Trinity (book 1) by J.L. Oiler

Time changes all. The world of humankind is gone, replaced by a landscape marred with the aftermath of war and disease. This is the world of the Were. However, even their existence hangs perilously by a thread. The ratio of males to females has become unbalanced and the ruling council is struggling to bring order to its people through the creation of strong clans. Clans lead by not one Alpha Were, but two.

Cirri works within the confines of the council hall, evaluating and confirming the rosters of each group seeking clanship. Knowing the day would come when she would be a claimed mate, Cirri just never expected it to be so soon. Or that her mates would take her to the edge of ecstasy and beyond.

Meru and Arcos have traveled to the remnants of the human city seeking clanship even though they've yet to find their perfect mate. Fighting for their right to keep their clan together, neither Were expected to catch the scent of the female who was destined to be their third. But when their clanship paperwork causes a stir within the council, Arcos, Meru and Cirri find themselves fighting for their lives and that of their followers.

The Gatekeeper Series By Stacey Thompson-Geer and Stevie Trinity

A note from Stacey Thompson-Geer on her upcoming release:

~*~

This series is about two strong women who have families and lives but when the world breaks, they are forced into fulfilling a bigger destiny. They are charged with closing doorways that have been opened to other layers of the worlds.

These women have real world issues within their families as well as facing supernatural entities that want to kill them and their families. Readers will be introduced to strong women, magick and the beginning of an underlying love story with both women.

The series starts in January with The Gatekeeper Series: Lynn. A short story letting readers understand Lynn a bit more. Each month a new short will be released until the first novel, The Gatekeeper Series: Dark Magick in June 2011.

Excerpt from The Gatekeeper Series: Lynn

I have been a warrior my entire existence. From the very first life I lived, I knew this to be true. My purpose is not my own. I’m to save people that are not ready to see the truth, not ready for the world that seems to have unraveled around them.

I walked past the dying plants in front of my new home, a hut made from trees and leaves. It wasn’t much, but it did the job against the cold Wyoming winters. I couldn’t help but wonder what the hurry was about. Normally we had a little time, but the way Rhea had sounded this time we didn’t.

I knocked and opened the handmade wooden door. A woman with long blond hair sat with her back to me, mixing herbs and at a small table. She didn’t turn to face me, but spoke. “I had a another vision.” She continued with what she was doing.

“I know. Their getting worse, aren’t they?” I stepped closer to her as I spoke.

She ignored me and kept going, “You have to go to Canada.”

“Great, more snow.” I joked fiddling with an open spot on the wall.

She turned to me and cocked an eyebrow. “There’s a group there. They don’t understand what’s happening.”

“Are they underground?” I didn’t look her way.

“No, but they’ll be hostile.”

“What else is new?” I snorted.

“One of them is important.” She didn’t look away from me. “I just don’t know which one.”

“Perfect. So, I have to get a whole group of people out of a very Demon occupied country and get back with all of them alive? Awesome.” I sighed.

“Demons aren’t the only thing there, you know,” she smarted off. I made a face at her and started for the door. “You should take Miles with you. He’s good.”

I didn’t say anything but stopped for a moment. “You’ll watch my kids?”

“You know I will.” She said smiling slightly and I dropped my gaze to the floor. This was not the kind of news I wanted to hear. Just one day off would be nice once and a while.

Wicked Christmas and More

Wicked Nights has a lot of great books for the Christmas season. We are bringing you, the reader, a couple of paranormal goodies as well as some old fashioned fun.

Good For The Goose was our first in the Christmas round up written by your own Anne Holly. This story is one of my favorites in the Christmas line up, because of the realness I feel when I'm reading it. This one is out now for your enjoyment. :)

Wicked Christmas is a group of four Christmas stories that center around a party thrown by the Vampire Zachary Halback. He's trying to fish up information on what each group of Supernatural beings, but finds he's met his match in a rough and tough Order of the Phoenix, Nina. There is also a Witch casting spells and falling in love with a Werewolf, a Demon that finds love with a human and an old Vampire love recaptured. The first two of this series – Sex On The Beach, Christmas Style by Julie Lynn Hayes and Aloha Christmas by Ashlynn Monroe are available now. Look for Christmas Bounty by Stacey Thompson-Geer and The Curse by Angel to be out in the next two weeks.

All I Want For Christmas by Scarlet Rose is also a great little Christmas story about a Selia. She can't stand Christmas and just wants to get home to her Ice Cream and cozy apartment. When she runs into Santa Clause on the way home, she makes a wish she won't soon forget. Available now.

Eternal Gift by Ashlynn Monroe is the story of a Christmas party gone wrong. Angelica meets a mysterious man at her office Christmas party, a man who wants to taste her in every way possible. When an accident takes everyone she loves away and leaves her on the brink of death, she receives the darkest of Christmas gifts.

All of these Christmas stories are sure to warm up your cold nights this holiday season. Check out www.wickednights.info as well as All Romance Ebooks, 1place For Romance, Amazon, and Barnes and Nobles.

We'll have visits from Stacey Thompson-Geer, Pj Schnyder and Christopher Craven, among others, and new insights into how to use BlogTalkRadio from Ashlynn Monroe, and something from Deanna Wadsworth, soon... Though I don't know exactly what it is yet. Knowing her, it will be fun, anyway. ;)

I have some a Holiday Romance Showcase and a bunch of interesting promos scheduled to help you make the most of your ebook bucks, and, as always, will spotlight contests and such around the web as I come across them. I will also be keeping everyone up to date on my own writing, and I hope to launch my "serious" promo campaign for my full length novel, Strings Attached, this month. I've also got New Years resolutions to share, vegan-friendly holiday recipes all month, and some very tasty excerpts, as well.

As always, if you want to join the fun here next month, with an interview or guest blog, please contact me!

Excerpt Sunday: NEW RELEASE Unwrapping Scrooge

In honour of my new Christmas romance, Unwrapping Scrooge, which makes its official debut tomorrow from Decadent Publishing, I have selected a funny little exchange between my hero, the eccentric Kale, and his debonair literary agent, Byron - who is so good, he nearly deserves his own story!

“‘Allo, ‘allo!”

Byron let himself into the top flat and strode in with his usual brusque manner. More often than not, Kale simply ignored interruptions such as knocks, so the cheerful agent had long ago simply decided it was a waste of time to attempt it. Luckily, Kale had taken to leaving his door unlocked as it was easier than listening to his agent beat it down every Monday for their regular coffee break meetings.

“In here!” Kale called, without looking up from his typewriter keys as he finished off the last bit of dialogue to the scene he was completing.

“Why didn't you tell me what you had downstairs?” his disgustingly chipper friend tossed at him in mock accusation. “Not willing to share?”

Lost in thought, it took a moment for the words to penetrate Kale's creative bubble. “What?”

“Molly and Colby,” Byron expanded, “Your little Canadian friends.”

He pinched the bridge of his nose and removed his glasses with a sigh. “Ah, yes...I should have guessed it wouldn't take you long to discover them.”

“You might’ve helped a mate out and made some introductions.”

“I don't even know them, myself.” He replaced his glasses and leafed through his new pages as if disinterested.

“Well, they seem to know you well enough.” Byron chuckled. “Middle-aged wool-clad writer...sounds about right.”

“What?” He glanced up from the papers sharply. “Who said that? About me?”

“Don't worry,” Byron cooed mockingly at what sounded like mild hurt in his voice. “Your Molly stood up for you admirably.” He turned to the coffee maker with a chuckle.

“Hardly my Molly,” Kale countered. “We've only met a few times around the building.”

“Well,” Byron said, smoothly, “she wants to get better acquainted, it seems. You, or should I say we, are invited for what promises to be an old fashioned Canadian Thanksgiving Day meal that Molly is cooking especially for their nearest and dearest.”

“Canadian Thanksgiving? Both of us invited?”

“Yes, and you sound like a mildly handicapped parrot today—what's wrong with you?”

Kale cleared his throat and shrugged. “So, when is this Thanksgiving, exactly?”

“I don't know,” Byron said. “But it doesn't matter. I'm your agent, and I say you're free. And you're going.”

“Why?”

“Because you're nothing but bones, and you never get out enough. And I got the distinct impression that Molly would throw me out the window if I dared show up without you. My God,” his agent added, “finally—after ten years of knowing you, could you be showing some interest in a female worth knowing for longer than a couple hours at a stretch?”

Kale just gaped at him.

“Kale and Molly sitting in a tree....” Byron sang under his breath as he switched the coffee maker to brew.

And, as promised, one lucky commenter on this post will receive a free PDF of this book. Today's comment topic, in light of the upcoming Christmas season, is "What is your favourite Christmas story or movie?"

So, drop on in and let me know, and then swing by tomorrow for the official release when I announce the lucky winner of a free PDF copy of Unwrapping Scrooge, my brand new release from Decadent Publishing!

New Release -- Coming Soon!

My sensual romantic comedy for Christmas, Unwrapping Scrooge, might be releasing as early as this Monday through Decadent Publishing.

It's a story about a misanthropic Oxford writer who gets un-Scrooged by a young, optimistic Canadian grad student during her year abroad. It's funny, unusual and a bit on the snarky side, but satisfies that need for sweet, passionate love that comes with the magic of the snowy holiday season.

This is one of my favourite stories that I have written, and the characters are some of my favourite ever. I look forward to sharing this contemporary Christmas love story with you, and I hope you like it.

Release details will be announced when they are ready!

Good for the Goose Trailer!

Here it is - the brand new trailer for my Christmas erotic-romance, Good for the Goose, which will be released by Wicked Night's erotica line, After Dark, this Friday.

Good for the Goose is a spicy story of a woman, Natasha, who thought she was living her dream - she had worked up to a respected teaching position at a university, had a stable, successful husband, and a solid life... Until her husband runs off with one of his students, and she is left wondering what the point was of being good all those years. Enter Raphael, a graduate student in her department from Spain, and one of the hottest, sweetest heroes I have ever written. Passionate, bold and intrigued by Natasha... And ready, willing and eager to show her what more there can be to life. Natasha learns that sometimes it's very nice to be naughty.

A passionate May-December romance that encompasses the romance and joy of Christmas and the caliente sizzle of a sexual reawakening tale, Good for the Goose shows how what is good for the gander can be very good for Natasha!

This title will be available at Amazon and ARE, among other sellers, as well as on the Wicked Nights website. For more information, please see the Wicked Nights website or their current catalog. You can also find a small excerpt on my erotica website, Anne Holly's Dark Side.

More details will come here on the release day, this Friday, so please join me!

And have a Wicked little Christmas. ;)
