Six Sentence Sunday: Like Magic

Hello, and thanks for visiting. Continued appreciation for comments, as always.

This week's six sentences is from my newest release, a witchy Halloween erotic romance, LIKE MAGIC:
Ian leaned in close to her, breathing in her unique aroma. Pausing, holding his breath, he searched her face for signs of rejection and saw none. He didn’t believe in magic, or whatever it was mystical people thought they could do, but he was here now and the sweetness of her drew him in. They had this moment, and he would enjoy her. If believing her wish had been granted would revive her zest for life, he’d be happy for her. But, magic, he always believed, was nothing more than just what you made of your luck.

Six Sentence Sunday: TOPAZ, current WIP

A few lines of dialogue from the new shifter-romance work in progress, featuring a female feline-shifter. The dialogue has really flowed into my brain with this one, and all of my favourite bits are banter scenes. Enjoy!
“If you guys can mate with humans,” he speculated, “what if you mate with someone who can’t shift? Does the baby shift?”

“Maybe,” she answered. “Depends on who she takes after, like anything else. If she takes after the shifter parent, then she will.”

“So you just buy a crib sized scratching post and hope for the best, then?”

Six Sentence Sunday: Strings Attached - Again!

Thanks to everyone for all the comments last week!

By semi-popular demand, this week's Six Sentence Sunday continues from last week's coyote attack (a few paragraphs later). Josie did survive, aided by Theo's quick shot with a 22c. However, they disagree on whether that was the best course of action...
“Help or get out,” Josie warned him calmly and concentrated on stopping the coyote's bleeding.
Theo rolled his eyes, knowing she fully intended on saving the animal despite her dead chickens and this morning’s events, let alone how he felt about it.
“Can we at least muzzle him?” Theo asked, removing his coat.
“Why, Sabich - scared?” Josie challenged him, though she did reach over to the muzzle hanging on the wall.
“Terrified,” he growled. Not of the wild dog, he thought, but of the bleeding heart little shepherdess who worked to save the wolf.
My contemporary romance, Strings Attached, has its own companion site.

Six Sentence Sunday: Strings Attached

Today's Six Sentence Sunday snippet comes from Strings Attached, my contemporary romance set in Canada's north.
The wild dog was small and scared, and he might run if she told him to get. But she knew that the blood on his snout and the hunger she saw in his eyes made him dangerous and unpredictable. In response to her voice, he looked uncertain and bared his teeth with a warning growl. Please, Josie prayed to the air and trees, please let Connie come along soon and scare him off. The coyote took a step forward and Josie took a step back, still foolishly holding the meat, the blood staining her hands and the cuff of her sleeve now.

Her last thought before the animal leaped at her was that at least she wouldn’t have to call Animal Control on Grover.
This novel has its own companion website, where you can find more info.

Six Sentence Sunday: Unwrapping Scrooge

This week's Six Sentences comes to you from my Christmas contemporary romance/romantic-comedy, Unwrapping Scrooge - one of my favourites, I admit.
While usually surrounded by an air of casualness, this morning's attire was altogether too unsettling. She couldn't say it was revealing, exactly. His cotton T-shirt, jogging pants, socks, slippers and cozy velour dressing gown in a deep chocolate brown were actually more than most people wore outside in warm weather. Yet, his smell was making it hard for her to concentrate, with the underlying scent of sandalwood now mixed with the musky hint of sleepy, warm male—an aroma wholly unknown to her. The sight of his beautiful, long reddish hair misbehaved from the pillow was a bit much for her nerves this first morning. Thank heavens he was at least wearing his glasses, so that one barrier of normalcy was maintained.
Unwrapping Scrooge is a novella published by Decadent Publishing, and is available from B&N and Amazon, as well as on Smashwords, etc, and has garnered positive reviews from Coffee Time RomanceSeriously Reviewed, and Sizzling Hot Book Reviews, among others. Heat level: Sensual.

Six Sentence Sunday: V-DAY

Hey, you know I like to shake things up, so this week I decided to skip the TL;DR humdrums and try Six Sentence Sunday instead of #samplesunday. It might become a permanent switch - though I have to admit it is not easy to pick out six sentences (exactly) of anything!

This week, my six sentences come from my newest release, V-Day - a cute little erotic romantic-comedy that won't change the world, but might fill your lunch hour pleasantly. I selected the passage from the "sibling banter" scene that has been well-received.
“Why would I want to spend Valentine’s Day weekend with Jason? He picks his nose…and eats it.” She shuddered deadly serious, as if she couldn't imagine a worse crime in the world.
“Daniel…” Judith turned to him after a moment.
“She’s right, Mom,” he said. “Cousin Jason is a chronic nose picker.”
As a fun fact, in my head Daniel's mother (a character I adore) is played by Marcia Gay Harden. Yes, I cast all the books I write in my head - and most of the ones I read, as well.

You can see a full Kindle sample of V-Day (or "Look Inside") on Amazon.
